It’s much more than religion

Receiving God’s gift of salvation makes you a brand-new person with a brand-new purpose. God wipes the slate clean and gives you a fresh start. This is God’s gift to you! But it’s more than a gift—it’s an invitation to a relationship

Everyone is invited to this extraordinary calling.

Receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior makes you become born-again! You are born into God’s kingdom and are made a partaker of His blessing. This is God’s gift to you! But it’s more than a gift—it’s an invitation to a relationship! It’s a call to fellowship and friendship with the Creator. Better still, you can come as you are, and God will receive you and transform you to be the best He has called you to be.Yet many people have been perplexed by this idea that a person can be “born-again” and have fellowship with God. Throughout history, this subject has confounded many. Even a highly respected religious scholar asked Jesus, “How can these things be?”

How can these things be?

In John chapter three, we encounter a man called Nicodemus, a highly respected religious scholar and teacher of the Jewish law. Nicodemus visited Jesus for what would turn out to be an eye-opening conversation. Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” This kind of talk left Nicodemus, the highly educated teacher, very puzzled. Nicodemus then asked, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus responded, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:3-5). Nicodemus pondered the meaning of Jesus’ words, then curiously asked, “How can these things be?”

Jesus’ statements came as a surprise to Nicodemus. What Nicodemus was familiar with was the practice of religion, but Jesus was suggesting something much more! Jesus was introducing a new standard—God’s perfect standard. He said to Nicodemus, “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again’” (John 3:7). God’s standard is, “you must be born again.” But how? By acknowledging Jesus as your Savior. This acknowledgment, however, is not a religious confession—it is a commitment to a relationship!

God is not looking for religion in us. He is looking for a relationship with us.

There is a big difference between the two! Religion focuses on your own effort and performance—relationship focuses on what God has already done for you. Religion ends up being a mechanical observance of rules and regulations. Relationship is heartfelt devotion to a Person. Religion is fear driven while relationship is faith driven. Religion can lead to legalism; relationship always leads to love. To truly know God, we must encounter Him relationally—not religiously. God wants a genuine relationship, where Jesus Christ is the focus. If we know Jesus relationally, our lives will be significantly changed. We will know the love of God in a greater way. We will worship God passionately—without any religious pressure.

The essence of Jesus’ message to Nicodemus (and to all of us) is best captured in a verse that has become probably the most well-known Bible verse.

John 3:16 says:For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

This is God’s gesture of love toward us. God has sent out an open invitation, calling all mankind back to a relationship with Him. Whosoever dares to respond to this invitation of salvation becomes a recipient of God’s best gift to mankind—the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.

It’s time to encounter this life changing love relationship that God is inviting you to. Are you going to say yes to Jesus?

Be blessed.

Many people have settled for the ordinary, in spite being in possession of an extraordinary gift!

Many people have not fully grown into what God has called them to be. They have settled for the ordinary. Have you settled for the ordinary?  The truth is, you were not made to be ordinary. You were not called to be average. You have an extraordinary calling and have been given the authority to walk in it. God has given you something special. All you need to do is unpack the gift and discover the treasure you possess. Discovering this gift from God is a journey we must all personally undertake. It is an assignment too crucial to delegate to others. It is an invitation too important to opt out of. It is, in fact, the most exciting and fulfilling quest you can ever partake in. God has a vested interest in you, and He wants you to know what belongs to you. When you discover what God has in store for you, you will step out of the ordinary and step into the life that God has ordained for you. You will be equipped and empowered to live a victorious life!

Receiving God’s gift of salvation makes you a brand-new person with a brand-new purpose.

God wipes the slate clean and gives you a fresh start. Your past failures are put behind you, and a new world of possibilities is placed in front of you. You become born-again! You are born into God’s kingdom and are made a partaker of His blessing. This is God’s gift to you! But it’s more than a gift—it’s an invitation to a relationship! It’s a call to fellowship and friendship with the Creator. Better still, you can come as you are, and God will receive you and transform you to be the best He has called you to be.

Discover the Real You

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Bible calls you a new creature in Christ. There is a whole new world of possibilities available to you. You have become a new caliber of person; a new species of being so to speak. The old person is gone and the new has come. In fact, the real you has come! Your real purpose, which was created by God but became corrupted in sin has been corrected by Christ. Through Christ, your life is redirected to God’s divine purpose. Your corrupted sinful past is wiped out, and God has made you a brand-new person. The real person you were born to be is revealed.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says:

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (KJV).

This scripture establishes your identity as a believer. You are a new creature in Christ. The word “new” is translated from the Greek word kainos. This word means “unused,” or “unworn.” It also means “of a new kind,” or “unprecedented.” If you have given your life over to Christ, you are now of a new kind. You are unused and unworn. The mistakes and condemnation from your past have been forgiven. You are a new person. This is your identity in Christ!

In the same verse, it says “all things have become new.” The word “become” is translated from the Greek word ginomia. This word means “to come into existence,” “to begin to be,” or “to arise.” So, being in Christ means you come into a new existence and you can arise and begin to be the very best God has called you to be. This new life in Christ is a life full of purpose and hope. There is an extraordinary calling that awaits you!

The translation of The Message (2 Corinthians 5:17) says the following:

Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets A FRESH START, is created new. The old life is gone; A NEW LIFE BURGEONS! Look at it!

Regardless of your past, when you accept Jesus Christ, you get a fresh start at life. A new life burgeons! The word burgeon means “to grow,” “to increase rapidly,” or “to flourish.” As a believer, you have this burgeoning life! You have the potential and power to grow and flourish in whatever you do. Proverbs 4:18 echoes this reality when it says, “the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day” (KJV).

Are you among the just? The just are those who have been justified through faith in Jesus Christ. Their sins have been forgiven. They have obtained the authority to become children of God. God’s promise to them is a path that shines brighter and brighter. “The longer they live, the brighter they shine” (Message translation). This is God’s promise to you.

If Christ is in you, your best days are ahead of you! This is how God sees you, and He wants you to see yourself in that same light. Arise and shine! You are a new creature in Christ!

Be blessed.
